The meeting was enthusiastically attended by partners from Slovakia (PEDAL Consulting); Italy (Ce.S.F.Or); Poland (City of Poznan Council & ZSZ School Nr6) and the UK (Rushcliffe Borough Council & NGi (UK) Limited).
The meeting was opened by David Mitchell Executive Manager for Communities at Rushcliffe Borough Council whose YouNG project is being transferred across Europe and is the focus of project activity. All project partners are committed to developing Enterprise skills in young people and are passionate about encouraging young people to think internationally rather than just locally.
Time was also spent refining the Local Market Guides that each partner had produced that will form the template for planning their own YouNG Markets in their own countries. Lunch was hosted by the Mayor of Rushcliffe, George Davidson in the Mayor's Parlour, which was a special treat organised for our international guests. After lunch partners spent time preparing for the YouNG Market due to be held the following day.
Around mid-afternoon the group adjourned to the world famous Trent Bridge Cricket Ground for a working tea and an evening of Twenty20 cricket action hosted by the Chief Executive of Rushcliffe Borough Council - Allen Graham, who had also invited a host of local stakeholders. This was a great way to promote the objectives of the YouNG project and the international work that is taking place to export this great initiative across the continent.
The second day was spend experiencing an actual YouNG Market, with all partners helping the YouNG stall holders and shadowing the YouNG Ambassadors in an attempt to better understand their role in organising the market and the skills and attributes this activity helps to develop. Partners also spent time questioning YouNG stall holders in an attempt to decide the best business ideas, as these YouNG people will be going to Italy later on in the year to sell their products at a YouNG Market in Rome.
The next project meeting is scheduled to take place in the Poland in March 2017, but before this our first group of YouNG International traders will get the chance to see how their products sell in a foreign market, when three YouNG businesses get the chance to sell their products at a market in Rome, Italy in November 2016. What an experience that will be!
